ABOUT FLUORESCENT WORKS
ARTIST BIO: Born in 1957, Alan Stricof grew up in the Detroit suburb
of Oak Park.  He graduated from Oakland University, in Rochester,
Michigan, in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a teaching certificate.
Stricof has taught Spanish and French and has also done translation work.  He
is the creator of the internationally-selling, educational, foreign language
game, Battling Interpreters, published and marketed by Teacher's
Discovery, of Auburn Hills, Michigan.  Stricof's first fluorescent paintings date
back to his senior year of high school - 1976.  A number of Denver-area art
galleries have hosted his "Purple Haze" black light art show.  In 1992, Stricof
started Fluorescent Works with his own
pre-print line of wearable black light
art.  In 1995, Fluorescent Works began offering a
custom T-shirt service.  We are, to the best of our knowledge, the world's first custom T-shirt contractors!  Odds are that you won't find any such listing in your phone book.  Fluorescent Works has also expanded its product line over the years and now offers tie dyes, other imprinted artwork, as well as fluorescent / neon T-shirts and tank tops.  We maintain a  proud tradition of offering quality, non-commercial,
wearable art.
Fluorescent Works brings you twelve of Stricof's strikingly bold designs as wearable art.  They are all  reproductions of black light paintings and, like the originals, all are fluorescent.  The imprinted artwork on our T- shirts and sweatshirts will light up and glow under black lights.  They  make great, "party shirts."  We use special fluorescent inks to re-create the black light effect of the original paintings.  Stricof has, on occasion, taken an art gallery, or a portion of one, decked it out with black lights, burned some incense, played some rock music and called the show, "Purple Haze".  This title, besides serving as a tribute to Jimmy Hendrix and the times in which that great musician played, is appropriately named for another reason as well.  The "Purple" is for the black lights and the "Haze" is for the incense!

Fluorescent Works was started back in 1992 by the black light artist, Alan Stricof, as a vehicle for promoting his artwork.  The company still continues to serve that purpose, even as it has expanded its product line over the years to become one of the world's leading online retailers of fluorescent or neon T-shirts.  Although Stricof is a relatively unknown artist, his artwork does sell internationally - on T-shirts and sweatshirts!

Fluorescent Works'  website offers some free content for its visitors.  People can take a stroll through our online black light art gallery and view some of Stricof's original, fluorescent paintings, as well as paintings by another black light artist, Skaadi.  Stricof's artwork has been described as, "the psychedelic sixties meet the New Age."  We've got one of the only websites on earth where a customer can choose between purchasing a fluorescent reproduction of a fluorescent painting on a T-shirt or sweatshirt, or purchasing the actual, original painting itself.
